The lovely people at Maille sent me two delicious-looking 5-ingredient recipes for using Mailles mustards. And between the two recipes they include two of my favourite foods a) cheese and b) streaky bacon.
These meals are easy enough to make after a long day at work but will make you feel like you’re having a nice proper meal vs just cheese on toast or pasta and sauce.
And just get a load of that gorgeous melty cheesy French rarebit in the pic at top!
French Rarebit (serves 4)
Glorious celebration of grated Gruyère and Maille® Dijon Originale Mustard with a touch of garlic make this stunning lunch or supper a foolproof winner
Ingredients
- 225g/8oz Gruyère, grated
- 1 tbsp Maille® Dijon Originale Mustard
- 1 fat clove garlic, peeled and finely grated
- 1 tbsp dry white wine
- 4 slices crusty bread
From the store cupboard
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Place cheese, Maille® Dijon Originale Mustard, garlic and wine into a bowl and mix well. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Toast crusty bread on both sides. Pile on cheese mix up high to cover toast right to the edges. Return to grill and cook till cheese is melted and bubbling. Serve immediately.
Maille® Tagliatelle with Bacon (serves 4)
Deliciously moreish, simple pasta dish with crème fraîche and crispy bacon with a subtle twang of flavour from Maille® Dijon Originale Mustard
Ingredients
- 225g/8oz streaky bacon
- 3 cloves garlic, peeled and finely sliced
- 10oz/300g tagliatelle
- 200g tub crème fraîche
- 2 tbsp Maille® Dijon Mustard
From the store cupboard
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
In a dry non-stick pan, fry bacon over low heat until crisp. Add garlic half way through cooking so it softens. Season with freshly ground black pepper. Cook tagliatelle in a large pan of boiling salted water until just tender. Drain and reserve.
Add crème fraîche and Maille® Dijon Originale mustard to bacon mix and bring back to bubbling. Pour over tagliatelle and stir through. Serve immediately.
