ASDA are offering 48 newborn nappies for the giveaway price of £1.

The brand is ASDA’s own brand Little Angels New Arrival Newborn in size 1 and they ring in at 2.1p per nappy. Regular price is £3.75 for the package.

Word on the street is that you can get them both online and in store at that price.

On Tuesday 19th January, Asda is going Peppa Pig mad to raise money for leading baby charity Tommy’s as part of it’s week long Baby & Toddler Event.

Throughout the week, shoppers can enjoy amazing discounts in store on all their baby and toddler needs, and pick up the exclusive Peppa Pig Bag for Life (RRP £2, pictured above) and Peppa and George plush key rings (RRP £2, pictured below) in aid of Tommy’s.

Over the next week alone, 1,680 women will miscarry and 56 babies will be born prematurely in England and Wales – the highest rate in Western Europe. Yet medical research into pregnancy complications has traditionally received little funding in the UK. That’s why, since its inception in 1992, Tommy’s has been determined to create a pregnancy research network of worldwide importance but it can only do this thanks to the fundraising efforts of the public and companies like Asda.

Every penny that Asda raises goes to fund Tommy’s scientific research into the causes and prevention of miscarriages, premature birth and stillbirth and its vital free pregnancy information line. And last year the public helped Asda raise a fantastic £400,000 for Tommy’s and it needs your help again this year to make sure this vital research continues so get shopping!

Asda is offering whole frozen salmon for £3. The salmon is the lowest price on the market (see chart below) and is sustainably sourced from Alaska where the fish are caught in the wild and frozen immediately to ensure the best quality and flavour.

As the party season gets into full swing and shoppers start to plan their Christmas feasts, the 1.2kg fish will feed at least eight people for just 38p a head.

What do you do with a whole fish, you ask? Well Asda has provided this recipe to get you started!

Salmon en croute – a luxurious alternative to roast turkey

Serves 6
Preparation time 30 minutes
Cooking time 45 minutes
Plus marinating time, plus chilling time

Ingredients

• Zest and juice of 1 lemon
• 1tbsp chopped fresh or 1tsp dried dill
• 2 x 450g Asda salmon fillets, skinned and boned
• 680g Asda frozen ready-made puff pastry, thawed
• 300g Asda frozen chopped spinach, thawed
• 100g Asda Soft and Creamy soft cheese
• 105g Asda cooked and peeled prawns
• 1 egg, beaten

Method

1 Mix the lemon juice with the dill, season the mixture and rub it into the salmon fillets. Put them both in a non-metallic bowl and leave to marinate for 1 hour.

2 Preheat the oven to 200C/Gas 6. Roll out half the pastry on a lightly floured work surface to a rectangle measuring 38 x 20cm. Put on a large baking sheet and prick the base all over with a fork. Chill for 30 minutes, then bake until golden brown. Cool on a rack.

3 Squeeze out any excess liquid from the spinach, then mix in a bowl with the cream cheese and prawns. Season to taste.

4 Put the cooked pastry base onto a baking sheet and place one of the fillets in the centre. Spread with the cream cheese mixture and lay the other fillet on top.

5 Brush the border of the pastry with the beaten egg. Roll out the remaining pastry and place over the fish to cover it. Press lightly to seal. Trim the base, allowing a 1.5cm border all the way around and use trimmings to decorate the parcel. Make 2 slits in the top, brush with egg, and bake for 40 to 45 minutes.
